IB Career-related Programme (IBCP)

The Career-related Programme (CP) at Velammal Global School combines the academic rigor of the IB with practical, career-related studies.

WHAT IS IBCP ?

“The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme is the fourth IB programme which is designed for students of 16 to 19 years of age. It is a unique programme designed to bring the academic rigour and global focus of the IB through career-related courses.”

IBCP students undertake a Career Related Study (CRS), a core consisting of four components and two IBDP courses.

For CP students, DP courses provide the theoretical underpinning and academic rigour of the programme; the Career-Related Study (CRS) further supports the programme’s academic strength and provides practical, real-world approaches to learning; and the CP core helps develop skills and competencies required for lifelong learning. The CP Core are:

  • Reflective project: is intended to promote high-level research, writing and extended communication skills, intellectual discovery and creativity.
  • Language development: access to a language programme that will assist and further their understanding of the wider world. 
  • Personal and Professional skills: practice for students to develop attitudes, skills and strategies to be applied to personal and professional situations and contexts now and in the future.
  • Service learning: is the development and application of knowledge and skills towards meeting an identified and authentic community need.

CRS Offered at VGS

VGS, in collaboration with World Academy of Career Programmes (WACP), offers Business Administration as Career Related Studies. More CRS courses will be offered in due course.

IB Career Related Programme Assessment

IB CP Award

The Certificate of the Career-related Programme of the International Baccalaureate will be awarded subject to satisfactory completion of the following requirements by a candidate:

  • The candidate has completed the specified career-related study. 
  • The candidate has been awarded a grade 3 or more in at least two of the Diploma Programme courses registered for the Career-related Programme. 
  • The candidate has been awarded a grade of at least D for the reflective project. 
  • Personal and professional skills, service learning and language development requirements have been met. 
  • The candidate has not received a penalty for academic misconduct. 
 All candidates will receive programme results detailing their level of achievement in the Diploma Programme courses and the reflective project along with the status of completion of the Career-related Programme core. 
 
VGS School offers Career Related Studies in Collaboration with WACP (World Academy of Career Programmes). They Provide International Diploma in Career Studies at the end Grade 11 and Advanced International Diploma in Career Studies at end of Grade 12. These, along with IBCP Award ensure further and higher education opportunities in India and abroad
